Journalist Visa Process

All journalists from outside of Mainland China who would like to attend and cover CES Asia in Shanghai, China need to secure proper documentation and clearance. Below is the current process for securing a Visa. Please note that this is subject to change prior to CES Asia 2017.

 

Process for International Media

For International journalists traveling from outside of China, a J-1 or J-2 Visa is required. Please follow the step-by-step procedure below:

  • Register as media for CES Asia 2017(registration will open early 2017). Answer all required questions (with a red asterisk), including Visa application information, and attach credentials to complete your media registration. Please make sure all information provided is correct. Missing or incorrect information could affect the Visa application.
  • After your media registration is confirmed by Show Management and your Visa application is approved, a Visa invitation letter will be emailed to you by CES Asia while a Visa-clearance notification will be sent from the Shanghai Foreign Affairs Office to the Chinese consulate or embassy you provided during the registration process
  • Then, please take the Visa invitation letter and apply for a J-1 or J-2 Visa within three working days at the Chinese consulate or embassy that your notification was sent to.

    • Please make sure to go to the consulate or embassy you provided during registration (this is where your notification will be sent).
  • Present Visa on-site at a media badge pick-up location*.

 

ON-SITE PROTOCOL

All journalists will be required to present their Visa during on-site badge pickup. If a copy of Visa is not presented to CES Asia Show Management at media badge pickup, registration status is subject to being switched.

*If camera or video equipment is in excess of hand held devices for recording, we recommend the trip to Shanghai be planned with an arrival date three days prior to the show start to clear customs.

Process for Hong Kong and Macau Media

For Hong Kong and Macau media ONLY, 港澳记者采访证(驻)or 港澳记者采访证is required. Please follow the step-by-step procedure below to apply for港澳记者访证if needed.

  • Register as media for CES Asia 2017(registration will open early 2017 and present Visa on-site at a media badge pickup location.

Process for Taiwan Media

For Taiwan media ONLY, 台胞 and 台湾记者采访通知书 or 台湾记者采访证 () is required. Please follow the step-by-step procedure below to apply for台湾记者采访通知书 if needed:

  • Register as media for CES Asia 2017 (registration will open early 2017) and present Visa on-site at a media badge pick-up location.
  • Please visit this link for more information to apply for “台湾记者采访通知书
    • The completed form should be sent to the related authority, who will issue 台湾记者采访通知书after approval.

 

Chinese journalist who are working for international media in China

For Chinese journalists who are working for international media in China,外国常驻新闻机构中国雇员证 is required.

  • Register as media for CES Asia 2017 (registration will open early 2017) and present required document on-site at a media badge pickup location.
